About Bright Cat Business Solutions
Making Marketing Brighter & Tech Less… Screamy
Running a small business is hard enough. You shouldn’t also have to battle your website, your social posts, your podcast files, and that fifteenth automation that refuses to behave. These things drain your time and your energy.
That’s where Bright Cat comes in. We bring strategy, tech know-how, caffeine, and a firm belief that your digital world can be organised, manageable, and far less stressful. With the right support, it really can feel lighter.
I’m Jo O’Neil — founder of Bright Cat, marketing and tech specialist, spoonie, podcaster, and long-time servant to three deeply judgemental cats.
Our Mission
To brighten up your marketing and simplify your tech, so your business becomes easier to run, easier to grow, and far less likely to make you cry into your coffee.
We want your digital world to feel calm, clear and genuinely supportive — not chaotic or overwhelming.
We believe in:
✔ Accessibility
✔ Clarity (no jargon, pinky promise)
✔ Kindness
✔ Sustainable, not burnout-fuelled, marketing
✔ Systems that support humans with real energy levels
What Makes Bright Cat Different
(A.K.A. Why we’re not just another “VA who can do Canva.”)
💛 Marketing & Tech — together, in one place
You shouldn’t have to choose between strategy and implementation. With Bright Cat, you get both. This means you end up with great-looking content and systems that actually work. Even better, your videos, websites and automations behave themselves no matter what the moon is doing.
💛 Support designed for spoonies, busy brains and real life
Every business owner deserves systems that match their energy. Whether you’re neurodivergent, chronically ill, overwhelmed or simply stretched thin, we create processes that feel manageable and sustainable — not exhausting.
💛 Communication you can actually understand
There’s no jargon here. Instead, you get clear steps, friendly guidance and explanations that don’t make you feel silly. And because good communication matters, we don’t disappear midway through a project.
💛 A genuine partnership
Clients come to us for our skills, but they stay because they feel heard and supported. We don’t judge you for “being behind” or not knowing where to start. You’re not behind — you just need systems built for how your brain and business work.
Meet Jo — Founder of Bright Cat
(Founder, Chief Button-Presser, Certified Marketeer, Coffee Addict, Cat Staff)
Hi, I’m Jo — the tech-loving, strategy-obsessed brain behind Bright Cat Business Solutions and the human who pays rent to three extremely spoiled cats. When I’m not wrangling websites or fixing broken automations, you can usually find me co-hosting the 3Spoonies Podcast, getting involved in community projects or sinking far too many hours into strategy and life-sim games.
Before chronic illness slowed my pace, my weekends were spent at LARP events, charging around fields in questionable costumes with foam weaponry. It’s also where I met my husband, Ben. These days I stay closer to home, but the nerdy spirit is alive and well.
We now live in Nottingham with our three feline overlords, who are fully convinced they run the business. They may not understand marketing systems, but they’re very committed to sitting on them.
Why Bright Cat Exists
Bright Cat began when the traditional 9–5 stopped being sustainable for me. In 2018, I developed Bell’s Palsy. Although I recovered, I was left with fibromyalgia and the usual cluster of mental-health extras that often follow.
Spoon levels don’t care what corporate job descriptions expect. Because of that, I built a business that works with my energy, not against it — and lets clients work with me when I’m at my best.
What Makes Bright Cat Different?
I launched Bright Cat offering general admin support.
It didn’t take long to realise two things. First, small businesses desperately need support with marketing and tech.
Second, I am physically incapable of staying in one lane. So, I trained properly. I studied marketing principles, completed the Foundation Certificate in Professional Digital Marketing at Nottingham Business School, and I’m now studying for the CIM Level 4 Certificate in Professional & Digital Marketing.
It means I can say the word “strategy” without using air quotes.
I’m also a lifelong tech-head. I’ve never met software I couldn’t figure out — usually by pressing every button until something happens.
Many years ago, I even built computers from scratch. These days the bravest I get is popping the back off my laptop to add more RAM. It felt illegal, but the laptop survived.

Meet the Supervisors (a.k.a. The Real Bosses)
(Yes, they’re cats. No, they’re not helpful.)
A much-loved part of the Bright Cat brand is the trio who truly believe they run the business. They don’t handle client work and they can’t operate a keyboard, but they are extremely dedicated to “supervision.”
Tiger — The Tiny Tyrant
If you ever feel like someone is watching you, it’s probably Tiger. You may not see her, but she absolutely sees you, and she rules with an iron paw despite being the smallest of the team.
She also wags her tail like a dog, which feels legally confusing, and when she decides it’s time for attention, everything stops.
She’ll strut, pose, and demand devotion — and honestly, she’s adorable enough to get it.
Shadow — The Anxious Apprentice
Shadow is not the sharpest tool in the box. In fact, he doesn’t appear to have read the manual at all.
He follows the senior cats everywhere and gets squeaky and panicky if he can’t find anyone, even though he rarely checks more than one room.
However, give him a gentle word and a belly rub and he’s ready to continue “working.”
Just don’t knock on the door — he’ll growl dramatically until he remembers he’s scared of people he doesn’t know.
Dervish — The Loud Interrupter
Dervish isn’t around all the time, but when he appears, everyone knows.
He is loud, proud and permanently in the way.
He means well (probably), but he struggles to grasp the idea that humans sometimes need both hands for tasks that do not involve stroking him.
When he wants attention, everything stops until the royal head pats are delivered.
